President’s Message July/August 2023

As I take over in the role of TCTC President I want to be sure to thank the previous Board for all their efforts and contributions to the club. Much of the work flies under the radar unnoticed, but trust me, there is a dedicated group of individuals generously giving of their time to make the club better.

And no one has done more for the club these past few years than our outgoing President and new Past President/Webmaster, Er Ralston. It would be hard to overstate the effort, dedication, and value Er brings to the TCTC, from his role as Race Director for Beat The Heat to his involvement with the board both in his own roles and as advisor and mentor to others on the board. So if you happen to see Er at a TCTC event, or even just out on the roads running, be sure to thank him for helping make the club what it is today!

For those of you who are new to the club or haven’t really considered becoming more involved, let me just suggest that you give it a chance. Go to a hash run, volunteer at a race, or just show up for a group run.The club has something for everyone, from the hyper-competitive to those just looking to shed a few pandemic pounds. The more involved you are the more value you will receive from your membership!

And just to reiterate, the success of the club and its mission depends heavily on the events it hosts, so please consider volunteering. There are many perks to volunteering including (but not limited to) getting to know & mingle with fellow TCTC members, possible comps for TCTC races, the feeling of satisfaction from giving back to the running community and the vicarious enjoyment of watching the joy in fellow runners crossing the finish line.

Happy Summer & happy running!
