New Member Spotlight: “Doctor Sarah” Ruff

My name is: Sarah Ruff

But I’m also known as: “Doctor Sarah”

To sum myself up in a nutshell: I am a family medicine doctor in Chapel Hill who also delivers babies. I am a mom of two kids, ages 13 and 15, and I am the wife of an awesome dad and seminary student. I love running and challenging myself to do hard things, because it helps me know I can conquer anything in real life.

And I’m originally from: Pittsburgh, but I’ve also spent time growing up in Michigan and Delaware; I currently live in Chapel Hill, NC.

I’ve been in Winston-Salem: I don’t live here …

Became a TCTC member because: I keep signing up for their amazing races (The Ultimate Runner, Beat the Heat 5K, Frosty 50, Salem Lake 30K, etc.) and I thought it was time.

Been a “runner” since: High school when I started running to stay in shape for soccer and field hockey. I kept running, and I ran my first marathon in 2003 while in medical school (the Pittsburgh Marathon, still my favorite, ran it 3 times so far!).

My motivation to run is: Challenging myself to do hard things, and spending time with friends and family.

But when I’m not running, I enjoy: Taking Pure Barre classes, listening to Taylor Swift with my daughter, playing games with my family, reading, and making art.
