Temps Are Falling And So Are Paces

The hellish woes of summer training soon to pay off

Enough for you to look at previous times and scoff

Worried your body was getting slower

Only to find it needed to build power

The temps, like the leaves and soon to be paces if they haven’t already, are falling.

If you’ve been hesitant to find out if running is for you, I hope you take this as your calling.

You apprehensively join a group, unsure if you’ll mesh.

Only to soon find out you’ve met your match in this sesh

The morning is cool, a slight breeze picks up to slightly make you question your wardrobe choices

Only for them to be quieted at the sound of your group’s voices.

“Let’s do this” and for several reasons your skin starts to prickle.

You aim to ease your nerve wracking thoughts, stop being so fickle

Those thoughts are soon forgotten, as you put one foot in front of the other.

What lies ahead of you is a view unlike another.

The leaves are changing up above your head.

Yellow, orange, brown and red

They let go and make their way to the ground

The scenery is a beauty unfound.

That’s not the only thing your surroundings feature

There’s also all the wonderful woodland creatures

Your previous tribulations are long forgotten

As your thoughts are absorbed into conversation as you trodden

As you keep going you start to smile

Without even realizing it, you’re chasing down mile after mile

Another breeze picks up across your skin

But you’re completely comfortable from your blood flowin’

Before you know it, the run comes to an end

But the gathering only just begins

Now to enjoy treats to celebrate a fantastic run

Wondering how on earth you had so much fun
