Running in the Fall

There’s just something poetically beautiful about running during fall

There’s a lot of reasons runners like running during the fall in general

The biggest being that paces drop quickly.

The doubts that plagued whether you’d hit your peak fitness over the summer because you can’t get anywhere near your normal pacing.

It rather melts away as it gets cooler, the worries and the slower pacing

Stepping out for a regular run, the wind nibbles on your skin

You kind of wonder if you made the right choice for your clothes, but you know better

Once you get going, you’ll be thankful for what you chose

Waiting around for the rest of the group, it’s time

To set off on another long run

Let me set the scene as you begin running through the trees

Wherever you are in the fall season

The typical colors begin to set in the leaves

The trees start to let go; the leaves are trickling down

Making for a nice ground cover and crisp crunchy leaves

Remember questioning our wardrobe?

What previously was a cold wind is now a cool breeze caressing your skin

The breeze is now a gift, as we’re plenty comfortable

Blood flowing, a small bead of sweat trickles

The scenery is ethereal.

Reds, Oranges, Yellows, and Browns

Making their way to the ground from their branches of

Maple, Persimmon, White Ash, and Gum Trees

‘Tis its own season for the fall’s version of snow.

Back to running

How has it been several miles already? Heading back to the start so soon?

It feels like we just started, where did the time go?

Distracted by the breeze and the beautiful scene must have put me in a flow.

Slowing to a walk upon finishing, it’s time to say goodbye to the leaves, already missing the picturesque views.

I hope to go on another run soon.
