President’s Message September/October 2023

Dear Twin City Track Club Members,

I hope this report finds you all in good health and high spirits as we continue to move forward in our fitness and running pursuits. The past couple of months have been exhilarating, and I am happy to share with you the remarkable progress and exciting events that the Twin City Track Club has been a part of during July and August.

  1. Summer Track Series

Our Summer Track Series was a great success, with numerous participants challenging themselves and achieving new personal bests. The collective enthusiasm and camaraderie displayed by our members have truly embodied the spirit of our club. A special shout-out to all the volunteers who helped organize and facilitate these races. Your dedication is the backbone of our events.

  1. Community Events

Our commitment to community engagement remains strong. In July, we held our quarterly cleanup of Hanes Park as well as regular group runs, a scavenger hunt, and the ever-popular $5/5K.

  1. $5/5K

Speaking of the $5/5K, the series of 5K races from Jameson Park on the Muddy Creek greenway continues to be an extremely popular event under the stewardship of TCTC Vice President Terry Wilmouth and a dedicated gang of volunteers. The event sells out every month and is wildly enjoyed by the many regular participants.

  1. Membership Growth

I am pleased to share that our membership base continues to grow. You are now part of a club with over 700 members. New members bring fresh perspectives and energy to our club, and I encourage all of you to extend a warm welcome to our newcomers. Let’s continue to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.

  1. Looking Ahead

As we push through the heat of summer just waiting for the fall months, we have an exciting lineup of events and activities planned. There has been discussion about a group race, possibly a fall marathon. Keep in mind that the TCTC has discount codes for several races in the Carolinas. More details are available on the website. Additionally, we’re exploring opportunities to collaborate with local schools to promote fitness and running among students. Please follow our social media posts to stay abreast of all upcoming events and activities.

In conclusion, I am immensely proud of the Twin City Track Club’s accomplishments during July and August. Your commitment, passion, and dedication continue to drive our club forward. I encourage you all to stay engaged, participate in our upcoming events, and inspire each other to achieve greater heights.

Thank you for being an integral part of our vibrant running community. Let’s lace up our shoes and embrace the opportunities that the coming months will bring.

Wishing you all happy trails and personal bests!

Sincerely,

John Anderson
