**Embracing the New Year with Twin City Track Club: New Races, Volunteering, and Adventures Ahead**

As we usher in a brand-new year, the Twin City Track Club (TCTC) is excited to lace up our running shoes and embrace all the possibilities that lie ahead. The start of a new year brings a chance to set fresh goals, connect with fellow runners, and explore new challenges—and we’re here to make this journey even more exciting for you. Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner, a weekend jogger, or someone looking to dive into the running world for the first time, TCTC has something for everyone in 2025.

**Exciting Race Opportunities**

The new year marks the start of another thrilling race season, and we couldn’t be more excited about the lineup of events we have planned. From our signature 5Ks to challenging ultra-marathons, the calendar is packed with races that cater to runners of all abilities. These events are more than just races; they’re opportunities to test your limits, celebrate your progress, and enjoy the camaraderie of our running community.

Be sure to mark your calendars for our annual highlights, such as the $5K Race Series, Beat the Heat, and Salem Lake Trail Races, where participants can experience the beauty of our local roads/trails and the support of a vibrant community. Keep an eye on our race calendar for updates and registration details—we promise, you won’t want to miss a single event.

**Winter Seminar with Mirna Valerio**

We are thrilled to announce that this spring, TCTC will host a special seminar featuring the inspiring Mirna Valerio. Known as “The Mirnavator,” Mirna is a celebrated ultrarunner, author, and advocate for body positivity and inclusivity in the running community. This seminar will be an incredible opportunity to hear her story, gain insights into her running journey, and learn how to embrace your unique path as a runner.

Due to adverse weather on the original date, TCTC and our vendors are quickly pivoting to reschedule this outstanding runner and still bring you the Winter Spring Seminar!

The event promises to be both motivational and educational, offering a chance to connect with one of the most dynamic voices in the running world. Stay tuned for details on the date, time, and location, and be sure to reserve your spot early—this is one event you won’t want to miss!  More than 15 FREE race entries will be given away, courtesy of TCTC, Jones Racing Company, and Junction311! Who knows what other exciting things might be in store!

**Volunteering: A Rewarding Way to Give Back**

Every race and event we host is made possible by the incredible support of our volunteers. In 2025, we’re calling on our members to consider volunteering as a way to give back to the running community. Whether you’re helping at the registration table, cheering runners along the course, or handing out medals at the finish line, your contribution makes a huge difference.  Know the difference between gun time and chip time? Join the timing team and learn what goes into recording official race times and determining winners. Our timers have the opportunity to earn $20.00 per hour for timing a race!

Volunteering isn’t just about helping others; it’s also an opportunity to meet new friends, gain unique insights into race organization, and inspire others with your energy and enthusiasm. Plus, there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of knowing you played a part in making someone’s race day unforgettable. Sign up for volunteer opportunities through our website and be part of something bigger in the year ahead.

CONGRATULATIONS to our 2024 Volunteer of the Year:  Greg Shelness.  Greg has been a TCTC member for over 15 years and volunteered at 15 events in 2024.  Most of these were race timing roles, one of the more critical volunteer roles for TCTC.  THANKS GREG!!!

**Destination Races: Run the World**

Dreaming of combining your love for running with the adventure of travel? 2025 is the perfect time to explore destination races! TCTC is excited to spotlight a series of destination events, offering you the chance to experience new places while doing what you love. From breathtaking coastal marathons to scenic mountain trail runs, there’s a destination race for every kind of adventurer.

As part of our community, you’ll also have access to travel tips, group coordination for select events, and the shared excitement of racing in a new location with familiar faces. Let’s make this the year to step out of our comfort zones and create unforgettable memories on the road. Watch for a “destination survey” coming soon to our social media channels to let us know where you want to race in 2025!

**Looking Ahead**

As we kick off the new year, we encourage you to set ambitious goals, embrace challenges, and celebrate every milestone along the way. Twin City Track Club is here to support you every step (and stride) of the journey. Whether you’re racing, volunteering, or traveling to new running destinations, 2025 promises to be a year of growth, connection, and adventure.

Let’s make it a year to remember. Here’s to fresh starts, exciting opportunities, and the incredible power of community. Happy New Year to all of us at TCTC!
