Meet 2026 TCTC Membership Board Member Owen Watkins

I got into or should I say got back into running as part of a training plan to section hike part of the Appalachian Trail through the White Mountains with my brother-in-law. I was a big couch potato at the time, so I was looking for something easy to get into. Since then, I have completed a half marathon, marathon, and half-ironman. I continue to run with some cross training as part of my fitness adventure, not to mention giving me the ability to do many of the activities I still do today. I have also made a few friends at Twin City Track Club, from which I have done everything from destination races to social runs and even skiing. Running gives me the opportunity to stay both physically and mentally healthy, socialize, and improve my quality of life.

Outside of running I do some yoga, rock climbing, skiing during the winter, scuba diving, board gaming, video games, backpacking/hiking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. I like to keep things interesting and active.

Professionally (outside of eating full-time) I work in the cybersecurity space for Arch Capital. Having a sister who was an elite marathon runner, I hope to bring my experiences interacting with all different types of runners to the TCTC Board, not to mention my technical background, to find solutions. This will be my first year on the TCTC Board, so I hope to learn something new about our Winston Salem running community.
