Russ Newland – Member at Large
Russ is a North Carolina native and has lived in the Winston Salem area for most of his life. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Masters University in Santa Clarita, California, where he met his wife, Kimmie.
Russ is a follower of Jesus Christ, and is a youth leader at Twin City Bible Church, in Winston Salem. He works as a research assistant in Cardiology at the Wake Forest School of Medicine and is pursuing PA school.
Russ has been running TCTC events since middle school, when he began his running career with the Forsyth Home Educators, a local home school group. He stopped running in college due to injury, but returned to running consistently in 2023, when he and 11 other men from his church completed the 208-mile Blue Ridge Relay. Shortly after returning to running, Russ became a member of TCTC and has run many of the races TCTC has to offer. He is now excited to be able to give back to the club in his new position as a Member at Large.
