Damani Mitchell: Vice President
Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, Damani moved to Winston-Salem in 2018 and found the track club through meetup. After a few years of runs with the Saturday morning group, he officially joined the Twin City Track Club in 2022. Since then, he’s experienced his coldest, hottest, wettest, longest, and earliest runs – a testament to the motivation group runs can have. He’s gotten non-runners to join the track club, or sign up for races using the tried and proven strategies that we runners tell ourselves: “if you can run a mile, you can run 5”. He recently began volunteering as part of the TCTC Timer Team, as you will get more involved if you hang around Er.
For him, running is a way to clear the mind and supports better habits like improved sleep and drinking more water. Beyond running, Damani enjoys traveling, bar trivia, cooking for potlucks, listening to music/Bloomberg, and spending time with family and friends. He also goes caving, a hobby picked up while living in West Virginia.
Professionally, he holds a B.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach, FL and works as an Engineering Supervisor at Collins Aerospace. He also recently earned his MBA from Wake Forest University. Damani looks forward to serving on the board as Vice president, supporting the running community here in Winston Salem.
