Runners of all ages and abilities throughout the Triad can test their mettle again this year in the 2022 edition of the Ultimate Runner. It’s one night, five events and the chance to win bragging rights and your 4.91 car decal. Or go down in a blaze of burnt T-shirts.

And speaking of bragging rights, Race Director Sandy Wetherhold returns this year to direct the Ultimate Runner for the 36th time, earning him a spot on Road Race Management’s list of Longest Serving Race Directors.

Feel like you could knock out a 1-mile, 100 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters and a 5K all on one sultry summer evening? Here’s what you need to know:

  • Date: June 25, 2022
  • Location: Bob Sosnik Track at Hanes Park, 775 West End Boulevard
  • Registration opened April 15 and the race is limited to 114 participants seeded in heats by their best mile time in the last year. Please be realistic—you don’t want to be placed in a heat that is too fast or too slow for you.
  • The entry fee is $60 and increases to $70 after May 15. TCTC members pay $55, $65 after May 15. The field is limited in size and typically fills up before registration closes. Register early to avoid disappointment.
  • You must complete all five events to get a finishing score and receive the coveted Ultimate Runner T-shirt and a 4.91 Ultimate Runner car decal.

The races will take a lot of blood, sweat … and beers! Get ready for a fun Post Race Party. The tentative plan is to cross the street to Joymongers for the party and awards. You can find more information here.
